Karan Swiss
(most common name)
The Karan Swiss started development in 1963 at the National Dairy Institute at Karnal, India, by using Swiss Brown semen to inseminate Sahiwal and Red Sindhi cows.
In 1980, after an experimental crossbreeding period, they decided to use Brown Swiss blood instead.
The Karan Swiss today is a Brown Swiss × Sahiwal cross.
