Créole
(most common name)

(transboundary/brand name):
• Creole
(local/other name):
Creole Guadeloupe (France)
Haitian Criollo
• Créole Martinique

The Créole Martinique cattle are of a similar type and origin as the Creole Guadeloupe (but there has been considerable introgression by Brahman). Martinique, an overseas department and region of France, is part of the Lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean Sea.

NOTE: When the term créole is used for livestock, it indicates native, but not aboriginal (existing before the arrival of colonists).

(French) Créole = nursling
(Spanish, contraction of ‘criadillo’) Criollo = a little nursling
