Wenshan Cattle
文山牛
(most common name)
Wenshan Cattle are found in the Wenshan Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou province, China.
Wenshan Cattle have been described in early work and have a long history in the established literature.
In the early 1980s, Wenshan Cattle were used in crossbreeding experiments with Hereford, Aberdeen-Angus and Shorthorn.
Wenshan Cattle paternal lineages are effectively zebu; their maternal lineages contain both taurine and zebu. However another breed of this area, the Nujiang, receives almost equal influences from taurine and zebu.
