The Estonian Native is naturally polled and can be a cream-yellow, red or yellow-brown with white flecks, or various combinations of red, brown and white.
The Estonian Native has been in development since 1898. Imports used in development:
• West Finncattle (1910) and (1965–1997, >20%)
• Danish Jersey (1961–1990, >20%)
• Brown Swiss (since 1985, <5%)
• German Red Pied Holstein (since 1987, 5–20%)
The Estonian Native, known for its hardiness and longevity, has very strong legs and hooves. They have low feed requirements and produce milk with a high fat and protein content.
