The Estonian Black Pied is a composite breed of Dutch Friesian, East Friesian and Estonian Native cattle.
Although the Estonian Black Pied had its first herdbook in 1885 — it wasn’t officially named until 1951 (and was called the Estonian Black and White). In 1998, due to continued Holstein influence from the Netherlands, Germany, Canada and the USA, the breed was renamed Estonian Holstein.
