(most common name)
(local/other name):

The DAD-IS database for Bolivia lists the Chusco and the Criollo Altiplánico as two separate breeds.
Mason (Encyclopedia 2016; Dictionary 2002, 2020) does not list Criollo Altiplánico as a breed name.
Mason (Encyclopedia 2016) lists Chusco as a synonym of Altiplano Criollo. Felius (1995) lists Chusco as a synonym of Bolivian Altiplano Criollo.
Mason (Dictionary 2002) does not list Altiplano Criollo as a breed name.
Mason (Dictionary 2020) only lists “Altiplano Criollo: see Chusco”. But, under Chusco, only Criollo of the Altiplano and Serrano are listed as synonyms.
So, a bit confusing when researching this breed name.
(Spansh) altiplánico = highland
