Cholistani -bull- Pakistan

Cholistani
(most common name)

The Cholistani originated in the Cholistan Desert in Pakistan which is between Bahawalpur (a district of Punjab) and the Indian frontier. Beyond that is the Thar desert (the native region of the Tharparkar).

The Cholistani are thought to be related to the Sahiwal (genetic studies have not yet figured out the relationship) — but they do appear to be genetically distinct from the Tharparkar.

The Cholistani is small to medium in size with a coat that is usually white — speckled with red, black or brown; the horns are very short.

The Cholistani is a dairy breed with performance supposedly comparable with that of the Sahiwal and Red Sindhi.
