Bovian
(historical breed name)
Bovian cattle were bulls that had been carefully selected from a crossing of Charolais bulls with Blonde d’Aquitaine cows. Bovian semen was then used to inseminate dairy cows in the hopes of producing beef animals of high quality.
In 1990 there were 7,000 inseminations using Bovian semen, however, reportedly no Bovians have been produced since 1994.
