Ice Age Pizza Prop Table Set-up for Ice Age Pizza:

The actors wore tall chef hats and stood behind a table while pitching Ice Age Pizza products. We didn't make a Stone Age Soda bottle, but we would today if we were doing this play again.

Two plastic containers were paper mached using torn pieces of white wrapping paper (50 lb weight, usually used for packing) and flour paste (flour and water, the consistency of paste), then gessoed, painted with tempera and outlined with a black Sharpie.

They were then sprayed with Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating to keep the colors from melting under sweaty hands and the occasional damp wipe for cleaning.

Our ‘Ginkgo’ Leaves from the Original Production:

The leaves were just some plastic arrangement filler leaves found at Michaels. They are NOT ginkgo leaves or even gingko-shaped at all. (No one in the audience cared.)

Ginkgo leaves look like little fans that are completely opened and balancing on top of their stem. They are very pretty and delicate-looking (see below):

Our Ice Age Pizza Box from the Original Production:

We used a pair of very sturdy shipping boxes. Regular pizza boxes were too thin for our purpose (no fat boxes from Chicago deep dish pizza could be found near us).

They were approximately 13-inches square and 3-inches high. The Ice Age logo image was a square piece of cardboard wrapped with a piece of white drawing paper — which was then glued to the top of the box and colored with markers (which is why you can see the ridges of the cardboard).

Then the top was sprayed with Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating to keep the colors from melting under sweaty hands and the occasional damp wipe for cleaning. (Hey, props get dusty unless they're covered.)

The bottom of each box had two rectangular holes cut out so that it could be held with one hand at funny angles for the audience to see the Ice Age logo on the top.
