Dinosaur Hobbyhorses (if we did the show today):
Our (blue) Turiasaurus and (red) Lambeosaurus hobbyhorses from the Original Production:

Our (red) Parasaurolophus hobbyhorse from the Original Production:

Our (red) Corythosaurus and (green) Chasmosaurus hobbyhorse heads from the Original Production:

Our (red) Protoceratops and (green) Tyrannosaurus Rex hobbyhorse heads from the Original Production:

The hobbyhorse heads were made from foam board cut with an X-ACTO knife (#2 blade) and were then paper mached using torn pieces of white wrapping paper (50 lb weight, usually used for packing) and flour paste (flour and water, the consistency of paste). If you use whole wheat flour you'll get a textured look.
Then they were attached to wood dowels (3/4-inch by 3-feet) that were then wrapped with colored duct tape.
The heads were gessoed and painted with tempera and outlined with a black Sharpie. Two chiffon scarfs were tied at the base of each neck and then draped over the actors’ shoulders as they carried the dinosaur heads.
