The Venezuelan Zebu began with the importation into Venezuela (from Brazil) of:
• Gir
• Nelore
• Indo-Brazilian

The popularity of the Gir prompted a group of breeders to form a breed society — calling it the Venezuelan Zebu.

Although Nelore and Indo-Brazilian influence might be present — the Venezuelan Zebu most closely resembles the Gir and has a coat color of either solid red or red with white speckling.
