The Sidet Trønderfe og Norlandsfe is a dairy/beef breed (with the emphasis on dairy) and is similar to the Telemarkfe.

The Sidet Trønderfe og Norlandsfe is polled (except for a few which carry scurs). Coat color is black-sided (ranging from almost black with a white stripe down the back, to almost completely white with a few black patches or spots on the side). Occasionally brown or brindle will replace the black.
