Nagori -cow- India

Nagori
(most common name)

The Nagori, named after the Nagaur district of Rajasthan in western India, is used for trotting and draught work.

The Nagori, known for its speed and agility, has been described as ‘one of the most useful draught breeds of India, generally employed for road work’ (Phaniraja and Panchasara, 2009).

The Nagori is short-horned with a light grey coat.

Microsatellite studies of the Nagori show:
• a close relation to the Mewati (another member of the same shorthorned grey-white zebu group)
• a close relation to the Kankrej (a member of the lyre-horned zebu group)

A cryo conservation program for the Nagori began in 2020.
