The Madeira Mixed is just a local name used for the dairy cattle resulting from the crossbreeding of local Madeira cattle with imported Dutch Friesian and Danish Red cattle.

The island of Madeira is part of the autonomous region of Madeira, an archipelago (group of islands) belonging to Portugal.
