The Criollo Pilcomayo is a variety of Paraguayan Criollo influenced by zebu and found in the semi-arid tropical environment of the department of Alto Chaco in Paraguay.
The Criollo Pilcomayo is named for the Río Pilcomayo (Pilcomayo River) which is the longest western tributary of the Río Paraguay (Paraguay River).
