Corriente -cow- USA

Corriente
(most common name)

The Corriente descends from small-bodied Mexican Criollo cattle of indiscriminate breeding from the Mexican state of Sonora. Their coat can be almost any pattern or color and they are raised for both meat and sport.

The Corriente is very desirable for rodeos, being the focus of:
• team roping (also known as heading and heeling)
• steer wrestling (also known as bulldogging)

Corriente steers are ready for roping beginning at 12–14 months of age.

Corriente characteristics include:
• long horns
• light weight
• slender body
• long legs
• excellent speed
• excellent stamina
• gentle disposition

The North American Corriente Association was established in 1982. Registered Corriente cattle can also be found in Australia and Mexico.
