The Bale is a small East African zebu with a prominent hump and short to medium horns. Bale cattle can be found in the high plateaus of the Bale Mountains (in the Bale zone) in areas adjacent to the habitat of the Jem-Jem.

The Bale belongs to the Abyssinian Shorthorned Zebu cattle group.
