(most common name)
The Balancer is a composite consisting of 25–75% Gelbvieh with the remaining percentage being Angus or Red Angus.
The goal of the Balancer composite is to combine Gelbvieh growth, muscle, leanness, fertility, longevity and low yield grading ability with the carcass qualities of Angus. They are promoted both as a way to maintain hybrid vigor and also an avenue to a profitable blending of British and Continental genetics without investing in a complicated crossbreeding system.
In the USA, the Balancer is a trademark registered hybrid seedstock with documented pedigrees and expected progeny differences (EPDs). Balancer cattle can also be found in Mexico and New Zealand.
