• Anuak (South Sudan)
The Abigar is a Nilotic Sanga found in the border area between Ethiopia and South Sudan with the majority found in southwestern Ethiopia. The Abigar is kept in the Gambela region of Ethiopia by the Nuer people and is also herded by the Anuak people in South Sudan. Nilotic nomads are called ‘Nuer’ or ‘Abigar’.
The Abigar is very similar to the Aliab Dinka and is considered to be a true sanga — descending from crosses between African taurine and Indian zebu (between 1000 BC and AD 50).
