‘Valdotaine Chatagnée’ (also Valdôtaine Chatagnée) has been identified incorrectly as a breed name for the Swiss Hérens found in France. Valdotaine Chatagnée is another name for the Aosta Chestnut.
Valdôtain is a dialect (patois) spoken in the Aosta Valley of Italy which is bordered to the west by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France and to the north by Valais, Switzerland (origination of the Hérens breed).
