Collect the Parts for a Holiday Tree |
 |
|
- 80 " of chain
- 36" dowel
- 28" dowel
- 20" dowel
- 12" dowel
- 4" dowel
- steel ring
(This part is not necessary. Hanging it up by the chain alone is sufficient and it also will hang straighter.)
- ceiling hook (size 12)
(If you use a really heavy chain, use a more sturdy hook.)
- 10 screw eyes (size 14)

Paint the Dowels |
 |
| |
- Because I had it in my paint box, I used:
Prang - Tempera Paint - Ready-to-Use - Green
(4 coats)
- Because tempera is not waterproof like acrylic, I coated them using:
Varathane Polyurethane - Interior - Crystal Clear
(Easy Water Clean-Up)

Arrange the Tree Parts |
 |
| |
- Place the dowels approximately 8" apart so they form a tree triangle.
- Place the chain so it outlines the tree triangle.

Attach the Chain |
|
 |
| |
- The links on this chain were too tight to slip onto the screw eye loops easily.
|
|
 |
| |
- So each screw eye was unscrewed and than re-screwed through the chain and back into the dowel to hold it that way. There was a bit of fiddling as to which exact link to go through to get the dowels to hang relatively parallel to each other.
- The use of jump rings or a chain with larger links would avoid this problem.

Hang the Tree |
 |
| |
- This tree was hung over a fireplace using a ceiling hook to help push it away from the wall a bit.

- And there you have it - a Holiday Tree!
- And when the season is over, collapse the tree for storage:
