The Angeln (aka Red Angeln; Angler and Angler Rotvieh in German) belongs to the Lowland cattle of Germany group.
The Angeln is thought to have evolved from smaller cattle in what is now the Schleswig-Holstein state of northern Germany.
The oldest reports of dairy/beef uses for cattle on the peninsula of Angeln date back to the 17th century.
The Angeln is similar to the Danish Red.
