The Waldviertler Blondvieh (aka Manhartsberg, Waldviertel, Waldviertel Vieh; Waldviertel Blond and Austrian Blond in English; Schiltern in Czech) is a locally derived breed that started as a composite of local strains and Czech red highland cattle. From 1970 to 1980, Glan-Donnersberger and German Gelbvieh were also added to the mix.
The Waldviertler Blondvieh can have a unicolor coat of brown, red, blond or white.
