The Sahiwal started in the Sahiwal District in Punjab, Pakistan and was originally bred for milk production and its red coat color.
The Sahiwal has been exported to many other countries (mainly India, Bangladesh and Kenya) due to its consistently excellent milk yield and also its natural ability to resist heat.
