The American Gelbvieh (aka Gelbvieh) has a coat color that ranges from straw to black.

Breeding in the United States began in 1971 with the importation of German Gelbvieh semen by Carnation Genetics. The importation of the first Gelbvieh bull also occurred in the same year.
